Lower Rhenish open-air Museum

The Lower Rhenish open-air museum vividly depicts as a folkloric regional museum on the basis of authentic historical testimonies from all areas of rural work and living at the Lower Rhine in pre-technical time. The heart of the four hectare large museum terrain is the Doren castle, a moated castle with a history, which can be traced back to the 14th-century. The museum houses here apart from the exhibits about the bourgeois and noble living culture at the Lower Rhine also regularly changing special exhibitions.

In addition the terrain encompasses three complete farmsteads of the Lower Rhine from the 17th and 18th-century, a tannery, a distillery, a forge and a museum's restaurant as well as a supra-regional outstanding toy museum with play goods of German production from the last 150 years.
